Sleep well Destiny, three years is a long time, I’m sure you can ditch the daft SyFy channel and awake well rested in a less hostile galaxy.

We can always dream. I am genuinely sad to see the show go, the start may have been rough, but once it finds its place, usually by third season, it is good, and by season seven, ageing and ready to conclude.

Stargate: Universe was a good series, cut short before its time due to ratings only barely hitting a million viewers (on SyFy) and ten million world wide due to torrents. (because people can’t watch it anywhere else until months later.)

Can’t wait to see what happens in three years though.

Two monitors, both have now given up the ghost, they lasted Five and Six years respectively, I think this is a pretty decent life expectation for TFT monitors, and while it could only be the back-light that has given up, I doubt it would be cost effective to replace them.

I suppose I will be without two monitors for a time, unless the Samsung that remains decides to pop too.

I suppose if I need another screen, I can connect my TV to the computer, watch movies via that setup.

Time for a rant..

Sony about that.

Occasionally I get the urge to watch music videos on Youtube, find a random playlist and…

Wait a moment, this is not music, this is an endless stream of above picture, loading page after page of this nonsense. Is robbing yourself of exposure really a way of generating artificial scarcity, to make something unlimited seem like a limited and exhaustible resource?

Whatever it was, I am not really inclined to buy it, Youtube is so helpful that it removes the name of the video and everything associated with it, so there goes an opportunity to convince me to buy music.

I must admit, I am disappointed in Youtube, but it is hard to blame them when you have these corporations sitting in their lap like some nightmare of old, choking the cultural life from us in our sleep.

There is no sense in restricting content, the only one you harm is yourself. Some of your customers have brains, they know that when there is scarcity on the internet, the “pirates” are happy to step in and fill the void, and pirates knowing the true value of unlimited goods, give away the unlimited good for free too.

I just wonder this sham of a tactic is working, if pulling videos from certain markets really increase the sense of scarcity. I’m not convinced.

I cannot say I am happy with having stormweyr back on a dynamic IP, it is better than nothing at all.

I’ve also moved into a nice room, not much space, and still plenty of moving boxes sitting around, but I am sure I will find somewhere for all the stuff eventually, even if it has to be the basement of the building.

Another two months pass, the waters ahead are muddied, and the future uncertain, I hope to meet interesting times.

The server, Breezy, has been added to the IRC network, and will also take over a few of Stormweyr’s roles in the comming time, particularly as a backup when Tempestas is to be moved some times in the near future.
